Juvenile Suspect Arrested in Graffiti Series

Irvine, CA – On February 23, 2016, the Irvine Police Department (IPD) identified a juvenile suspect responsible for a series of approximately 70 graffiti incidents. The suspect, a 17-year-old Irvine resident, was arrested after a search warrant was served in the 3800 block of Parkview in Irvine.

Since November 2015, the City of Irvine has experienced approximately 70 separate incidents were properties were tagged and vandalized with spray paint and permanent markers using his tagging moniker. The incidents occurred along freeway easements, bike trails and in public parks. The victims in this series include the City of Irvine, Irvine Company properties and the Irvine Ranch Water District. The damage has been estimated at approximately $10,000.

The tagging is not gang related and it is believed the juvenile acted alone. The Moniker is not being publicized as we believe notoriety was the suspect’s motivation in these crimes.

The suspect is facing felony vandalism charges.
