Three Suspects Arrested for Package Theft

Irvine, CA (Dec. 15, 2015): Three suspects have been arrested for package theft after being observed by an attentive mail carrier. The suspects are identified as Alejandro Juarez Morales, 25, Vincente Juarez, 25, and a juvenile, all from the City of Corona. They were arrested on charges of theft, conspiracy, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2015, a diligent mail carrier with the United States Postal Service called the Irvine Police Department (IPD) to report a possible package theft in progress outside of an Irvine residence. The reporting party provided a detailed physical description of the three male suspects and the red Ford Expedition in which they fled the neighborhood.

An IPD officer observed the suspects’ vehicle driving in the area and initiated a car stop. The three occupants were positively identified as the suspects, and multiple stolen packages and a stolen credit card were located in the car. Officers determined that the suspects were primarily targeting bank debit and credit card packages.

IPD has contacted the known victims and the investigation is ongoing.

During the holiday season, IPD urges residents to consider these tips to protect against the theft of packages from your home: Bring your deliveries inside as soon as possible; Have items delivered to your workplace if you are not home during the day; Have items delivered to a trusted neighbor or nearby friend; Opt for your package to be delivered to the nearest postal store; Use tracking numbers and delivery notifications; Ask that your package require a signature for delivery.

Residents who believe a package has been wrongfully removed from a home or vehicle are encouraged to contact IPD.
