Irvine S.T.A.R.S. – Bike Safety Course

The Irvine Police Department is offering a bicycle safety course for kids on Saturday, June 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Irvine Civic Center. The S.T.A.R.S. (Safety Training and Riding Skills) class is geared toward children ages 6-11 with basic bicycle riding skills. The course consists of a fun, educational bicycle skills course as well as classroom training. Students will be provided instruction in key areas, including:

  • Traveling along safe routes
  • Defensive riding
  • Situational awareness
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Common courtesy

A parent or guardian must accompany their child to the class, and students must bring their own bicycle and helmet. RSVP by June 21 with the child’s name and age to STARS@cityofirvine.org. Space is limited. For more information, email STARS@cityofirvine.org.
