Housing Choice Voucher Program

The Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) will be accepting applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) waiting list beginning September 18, 2023, 8:00 a.m. PDT through September 29, 2023, 11:59 p.m. PDT. Households that live or work in Irvine are eligible for this affordable housing opportunity. For more information on how to apply, please visit ochousing.orgor call OCHA at 714-480-2798. 

Income limits for the Housing Choice Voucher Program are as follows: 


Applications can be submitted beginning September 18, 2023, 8:00 a.m. PDT through September 29, 2023, 11:59 p.m. PDT in one of three ways:

Waiting List Cap: OCHA will open the waiting list for 12,000 applicants, randomly selected and then prioritized by preference.

The Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) administers the Housing Choice Voucher Program in our community. The Housing Choice Voucher Program (previously known as Section 8) helps cover the difference between the rent a lower-income household can afford and the rent a participating landlord is charging. As of 2021, OCHA is not accepting new applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Welcome Home OC 

If you are a landlord looking for new tenants, consider a voucher-holder. The Welcome Home OC Program is the first housing assistance program tailored to Orange County property owners as well as qualified families, veterans, foster youth, and seniors in need of permanent housing. 

Every property owner is eligible to receive:

  • Double security deposit
  • Daily holding fees
  • Protection from damage and losses
  • Signing bonus with their first 12-month lease
