Become a Volunteer at the Nature Center

Turtle Rock Nature Center is always looking for volunteers! There are many ways to get involved including:  

• Nature Center: Trail maintenance, non-native plant removal, administrative assistance.
• Programs and Events: Assist with registration, check-in and hikes.
• Docents: A docent is a volunteer trained in the basics of ecology and natural history. Docents assist staff naturalists with hikes, camp outs, and summer camps.

Irvine Open Space Preserve

One of the most rewarding ways to experience the beauty of the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks is as a volunteer. Volunteers have a crucial role in the land, whether it is serving as docent-guides on a mountain-bike ride through Fremont Canyon, teaching middle school students about ecosystems in Limestone Canyon, helping to maintain a trail near Bommer Canyon Preserve or planting oaks near Weir Canyon. To find out more or to become a volunteer, visit letsgooutside.org/volunteer.
