Irvine Police Investigating Fatal Traffic Collision

IRVINE, Calif. (September 13, 2022) – Irvine Police are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on September 6, between a vehicle and a man riding an electric scooter. The man riding the scooter sustained grave injuries and died on September 12.

Just after 9 p.m. on September 6, Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority personnel were called to a traffic collision at the intersection of Barranca Parkway and Redhill Avenue. The man riding the scooter, 19-year-old Boyue Huang of Irvine, was transported to a local hospital where he died six days later.

While the cause of the collision remains under investigation, drug intoxication may have been a factor in the collision. The driver of the vehicle, 37-year-old Rhett Zerboni of Anaheim, was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
