The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCC) and the City of Irvine will host a book launch celebration for Chinese-Americans in Irvine 1971–2021. The free event will take place Wednesday, May 4, at City Hall. The reception will begin at 5 p.m., and the formal program will start at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber.

Chinese-Americans in Irvine 1971–2021 documents the history of Chinese Americans in Irvine over the City’s 50 year history. Six themed chapters such as Philanthropists, Arts and Cultural Innovators, and Community Leaders cover the contributions of 31 nonprofit organizations and 77 individuals to the Chinese American experience in Irvine. SCCCC published Chinese-Americans in Irvine 1971–2021 in April 2022, and distributed the book to community organizations and libraries. Additional copies of the book will be available to the public in the future.
