Irvine Woman Dies After Being Struck by Car

Irvine, Calif.  (Feb. 19, 2018) – An Irvine woman who was walking in the Woodbridge neighborhood Sunday night died after being struck by a car. Her adult son was also injured.

At 10:18 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, the Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority responded to the area of Blue Lake South and Springacre, where they discovered the pedestrians, who had been hit by the vehicle. Both were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. One of two dogs walking with the residents also died in the incident.

Angelina Guentcheva, 65, was pronounced dead Monday morning.

Blue Lake South between Springacre and West Yale Loop was closed Monday morning but has since reopened.
