On March 9, Mayor Farrah N. Khan delivered her State of the City Address at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Topics included a review of 2021 accomplishments, as well as highlights and initiatives for 2022.

In her address, Mayor Khan reiterated her commitment to healing, recovery, and growth. In 2021, she created two task forces focused on recovery, and implemented the Irvine Cares campaign, asking Irvine residents and businesses to help slow the spread of COVID-19. She also reaffirmed the City will continue taking steps to ensure we embrace and celebrate diversity in all aspects of our community, and foster an environment that represents the many different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives of our unique and dynamic City.

"After wrapping up our 50th anniversary last year, we are looking ahead to an exciting future," Mayor Khan said. "I want to thank our partners at the Irvine Barclay Theatre for hosting last night's State of the City Address, as well as our sponsors, participating community organizations, and nearly 400 residents that joined us at the event. As California's 14th largest city and the fastest growing city in the United States, I look forward to the bright future of 2022."

This year's event, hosted for the first time at the Irvine Barclay Theatre, also included Handel's Ice Cream, interactive experiences with Orange County Soccer Club and Anaheim Ducks, and performances by community organizations including, Cub Scout Pack 675, Irvine High Choir, and Chinese Dance Company of Southern California.

The City of Irvine would like to thank our event sponsors, including Presenting Sponsor, City of Hope, and Gold Sponsors, HMart and Merchant Landscape Services, Inc.
