On Monday, October 26 at 6:47 a.m., a vegetation fire began in the area of Santiago Canyon Road and Silverado Canyon Road. OCFA firefighters were on scene of a 10 acre fire, wind driven with a moderate rate of spread. Crews are aggressively attacking the fire with ground crew battling the flames. Air craft support has been grounded due to the windy conditions. Additionally, The 241 is closed from Santiago to the 133.

“In working with our OCFA partners, it is estimated that at least 90,000 residential units have been evacuated so far with the fire consuming approximately 7,200 acres,” said Mayor Christina Shea. “We are asking everyone to comply with the evacuation orders for their safety and the safety of our first-responders. The City of Irvine continues to open care and reception facilities for our displaced residents.”
