City of Irvine Adds Four New Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at Trabuco Center

Tuesday, March 26, 2024

In an effort to provide more charging options to the community, the City of Irvine, in partnership with Eneridge, has installed four DC fast charging stations for electric vehicles at Trabuco Center.

“As a City, we are committed to working with the community to reduce vehicle emissions and make switching to EVs affordable and accessible to all,” said Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “These additional EV chargers are an important part of those efforts, making it easier for residents to power up quickly closer to home.”

The newest chargers, which are compatible with all fast-charge-capable electric vehicles, expand upon the City’s growing network of charging stations. In July 2023, the City unveiled 166 Level 2 EV chargers at the Great Park. In addition, eight Level 2 stalls and two DC fast-chargers are available at the Irvine Civic Center, with four more charging stations under construction.

Throughout Irvine, there are more than 900 EV chargers. For information on locations and to learn more about electric vehicles, please visit cityofirvine.org/driveelectric.

EV chargers are a critical element in the City’s efforts to achieve its vision for a more sustainable future. The City is developing its first Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), which sets ambitious but achievable emissions reduction targets for the City and lays out a pathway to achieving climate goals across both municipal operations and our community.

Through thoughtfully planned greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction and climate adaptation measures, the plan will build upon Irvine’s previous steps toward climate leadership in Orange County to create a truly climate-smart City for the future.
