Victim Services

Crime victims are afforded specific rights and there are many resources and support services available to assist during what may be a difficult time. Our goal is to assign most crime reports to a detective as soon as possible; this happens sooner for more serious crimes. This detective is the person who may contact you with additional questions or information and will be your point of contact for any questions you may have regarding the investigation. To determine the detective assigned to your case, please contact the front desk at the Irvine Police Department at 949-724-7000.

The City also employs a Crime Victim Advocate through CSP to assist victims of crime with available support services including, but not limited to crisis intervention, emergency financial assistance, petitions for restraining orders, orientation to the criminal justice system, returning of personal property, restitution assistance, filing crime victim compensation claims, court accompaniment and witness coordination.  Please call the Victim Witness Center at 949-476-4855 for more information.

The Irvine Police Department has designated two police officers to serve as liaisons to the LGBT community.

If a member of the LGBT community is unable to immediately speak to either of the designated liaisons and is experiencing an emergency please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1.

The Irvine Police Department provides a valuable resource guide to those who have recently been impacted by criminal activity.  This booklet contains a description of your rights, information on how to access resources and services, and local community resource information.
