The Orange County Great Park, on a section of the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, continues its evolution across approximately 1,300 acres as it attracts visitors to its ongoing amenities. The City of Irvine-owned Great Park is an arts and sports recreational hub. Currently under development are 688 acres of parkland. Within that acreage is the development of a 194-acre Sports Park. Public-private partner FivePoint is opening its adjacent private land with new homes and non-residential, including a land sale to Broadcom Corp. near the Great Park that is expected to be a business magnet.
Temporary closures: The Great Park Gallery is closed, effective Tuesday, October 16, until further notice due to construction on-site. To best protect the current exhibit’s ceramic artwork, Nature In/Forms has been closed early. Check back here for updated information on opening dates.
The second-ever playoff game will be held at the Great Park’s Soccer Stadium when Orange County Soccer Club takes on Reno 1868 FC in round 2 of the USL Cup Playoffs. The team beat Saint Louis, 4-0, in round 1. Game begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. For info and tickets visit OC Soccer Club.
