City of Irvine Athletic Fields

Please note: To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community, some indoor facilities and outdoor recreational spaces may be closed or have modified access until further notice.

Irvine outdoor park spaces remain open for passive use. Outdoor playgrounds, and athletic and recreational fields and courts, have reopened with modified access. Modified recreational programming will be available to the community and registration is open at yourirvine.org. Learn more at the City Facility Updates webpage

Reservations and Drop-In Use

Traditionally, all soccer and ball fields across a variety of City fields are available for reservations, which can be made by calling 949-724-6830 or emailing fieldreservations@cityofirvine.org. A selection of fields are available for drop-in use if not already reserved. Lights are only available for permitted field use. Drop-in use is not allowed on a field that has been previously reserved. For questions, call 949-724-6830.

Please note: In keeping with State guidance for outdoor recreation, City athletic fields, basketball courts, and volleyball courts are open for drop-in use (defined here by the Community Services policy) by individuals, groups, and families with social distancing precautions. No more than 10 people in a gathering, no more than 20 people to a field, and no more than two groups to a field — no interaction between groups.

In accordance with new state guidelines, youth sports practices have resumed on City fields and courts. Organized practices are limited to youth sports only, with a field allocation permit from the City of Irvine. Games of any kind are not permitted. Organizations are required to follow all state guidelines for player safety. See more information from the California Department of Public Health here
