Irvine Child Care Project Accepting Applications for Child Care Scholarships

The Irvine Child Care Project (ICCP) is accepting applications for scholarships to income-eligible families to help pay for their children to attend an ICCP child care program.

An ICCP child care program is available on each Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) elementary school campus. Awards to eligible applicants cover a percentage of monthly tuition fees based on demonstrated financial need. Scholarship funding is provided by Irvine Children’s Fund, and payments are made directly to the ICCP child care provider.

Families must meet the following criteria to be eligible for an ICCP scholarship:

  • The child must attend an IUSD school.
  • Qualifying family income must meet current U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income guidelines, based on family size.
  • Adult household members must be employed.

Due to the availability of temporary, one-time funds provided through the CARES Act, families who have lost employment, wages, or are at risk of homelessness due to the coronavirus pandemic may also be eligible for funding.

Applying for scholarships is easier than ever with a new online application system, available at cityofirvine.org/childcarescholarships.

The ICCP was established in 1984 and is a Joint Powers Agreement between the Irvine Unified School District and the City of Irvine, overseen by the Irvine Child Care Project Board of Directors. It is a unique partnership in which the City of Irvine and IUSD collaborate to accommodate more affordable and quality child care in the City.
