IRVINE, CA – A freshman student has been detained for an assault on an Irvine high school campus.

At approximately 12:37 p.m., the Irvine Police Department (IPD) responded to Woodbridge High School regarding a male freshman student who had been stabbed by another student. The victim is conscious, breathing, and was transported to an area hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening injury.

The suspect was identified as a male freshman student. Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene on foot. He was located and arrested at his nearby residence at approximately 1:10 p.m.
