Join the City of Irvine for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson

IRVINE, Calif.:  Come to the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine on Friday, June 24 as the City of Irvine participates in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. This free event is a worldwide attempt to get into the record books while spreading the word that “Swimming Lessons Save Lives.”

Irvine is one of approximately 500 sites in more than 20 countries to join this effort. The lesson at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center will take place from 12:30 to 1; please arrive at noon. After the lesson, stay for free recreational swim time until 3 p.m. Children 3 and older of all swimming abilities are welcome.

Drowning is the leading cause of death in children younger than 5, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. The City of Irvine actively promotes water safety and encourages residents to learn the ABCs of Pool Safety and always designate a Water Watcher. For drowning-prevention information, visit cityofirvine.org or ocfa.org.

Registration for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson is required. Call 949-724-6717 for more information.
