Volunteers Support 2/11 Marines During COVID-19

Wednesday, June 24, 2020

The Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee has been busy supporting the City's adopted Marine battalion during the global pandemic as we mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Volunteers have raised funds and put together 110 Welcome Home bags for Marines who recently returned to Camp Pendleton. During stay-at-home orders for COVID-19, Marines are immediately put into a 14-day quarantine upon their return from deployment.

Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee volunteers solicited support throughout the community to put together extensive Welcome Home bags for the Marines to use during theses quarantines. Supplies included:

  • Pillows and sheets
  • Blankets
  • Shower Towels
  • Toiletries
  • Toilet Paper and Paper Towels
  • Snacks and beverages for 14 days
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Homemade cloth masks
  • Cards

Those looking to support Irvine's adopted Marine battalion can donate to the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee yearlong. Donations from the community support a variety of activities including events and care packages for active-duty personnel and their families. Learn more here.
