Media Advisory: Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris Secures $1 Million for Bommer Canyon Fuel Modification and Restoration

At Bommer Canyon Trailhead in Irvine on October 5, Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris (District 74) will present a $1 million check to City of Irvine officials on behalf of the State of California for the Bommer Canyon fire prevention fuel modification and restoration.
This funding comes from SB 170, the state budget bill, at the request of Assemblymember Petrie-Norris to help provide greenhouse gas reduction and increased carbon sequestration, as well as mitigation of wildfire risk for a community located in a very high fire hazard severity zone as identified by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

“Catastrophic wildfires are ravaging our state, growing more dangerous and deadly each year,” said Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris. “I’m proud to be working with the City of Irvine to invest in a proactive plan to mitigate wildfire risks and fire-related air pollution with initiatives like the Bommer Canyon project.”
