Irvine, Calif. (June 4, 2018) – The driver who was killed after his vehicle ran into a traffic pole on Sunday has been identified. Ricardo Jesus Villasenor Santamaria, 39, was a Santa Ana resident.

On June 3 shortly before 5 a.m., Irvine Police Department (IPD) and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) personnel responded to the scene of a traffic collision at Bake Parkway and Lake Forest Drive.

Upon their arrival, IPD officers found the vehicle engulfed in flames. OCFA personnel extinguished the fire and found Santamaria, who was deceased.

The intersection at Bake Parkway and Lake Forest Drive was closed while the Irvine Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team investigated the incident. The intersection has since reopened.
