Community Invited to Irvine Police Open House

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

IRVINE, CA – In celebration of the City of Irvine’s 10th consecutive year with the lowest violent crime rate in the nation, the Irvine Police Department will host an Open House. On Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the community is invited to attend this family-friendly event.

“I am very proud and appreciative of our Police Department and the work they do to keep our community safe,” said Mayor Steven S. Choi, Ph.D. “This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and thank our local police officers and to learn more about our police department.”

The Open House will feature Police Department tours, an opportunity to meet officers and K-9s, and see displays of patrol cars, motorcycles, and other police vehicles. There will be several child-appropriate activities including an inflatable jump house, hands-on crime scene investigation, Junior Dispatcher training, and a bicycle safety rodeo. IPD encourages children to bring their bicycles and helmets to participate. Children who wish to bring letters, cards, and drawings can present them in-person to police officers.

The event will also feature music, raffle prizes, and food trucks including hot dogs from Dogzilla, gourmet sliders from The Burnt Truck, and shaved ice and ice cream from Kona Ice.
