City of Irvine Invites Nominations for Wall of Recognition

IRVINE, CA (November 12, 2015):  The City of Irvine is accepting nominations for its Wall of Recognition, which recognizes individuals, groups, organizations and businesses that have made significant contributions to the Irvine community.

Formalized by the City Council in 2007, the Wall at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park is symbolic of the spirit of community activism, involvement and pride that has helped make Irvine the progressive, successful City it is today.

Individual nominees must have lived, worked, attended school or been employed in Irvine to be eligible. Groups, businesses and organizations must be located in Irvine or have been in the City at one time.

Other criteria for consideration include:

  • Demonstrated creativity and/or initiative in providing service to the community;
  • Provided long-term service to the community, state or nation;
  • Made unique contributions marked by excellence and worthy of honor;
  • Made distinct, significant contribution(s) for the betterment of the City;
  • Demonstrated exceptional determination, character, commitment and leadership; and/or
  • Nominee died in the line of duty serving the City, state or nation.

No more than three nominations may be submitted by any one individual, group, organization or business. The nomination form is available at the Irvine Civic Center first floor reception desk, Community Services front counter located on the second floor of the Irvine Civic Center and online at cityofirvine.org/publicrecognition.

Completed applications must be postmarked by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 and submitted by one of the following methods:
