The City of Irvine has always been a leader in celebrating diversity and has continued this proactive approach through recent council initiatives. In early 2021, Mayor Farrah N. Khan and City Councilmembers unanimously adopted the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resolution and launched a diversity campaign, We Are Irvine, confirming their commitment to the City’s values. As part of this effort, the Irvine Police Department has implemented a hate crime reporting portal.
In light of the recent increase in hate crimes and incidents throughout the nation, the City’s proactive and thoughtful approach will help with the ongoing effort to inform and educate our community that there is no place for discrimination or hate in Irvine.
The We Are Irvine campaign will highlight and celebrate Irvine’s diversity by showcasing the many ethnicities, cultures, and religions that make up the Irvine community. It will emphasize the rich diversity of Irvine’s residents and businesses through education, outreach, community partnerships, and multilingual communication approaches. The campaign will allow the City to continue celebrating its rich cultural heritage while combating intolerance and hate.
City leadership is committed to maintaining Irvine’s quality of life for all and will not tolerate discrimination and hate.
