City of Irvine and MemorialCare Expand COVID-19 Vaccinations to More Irvine Residents

Friday, March 26, 2021

The City of Irvine expanded COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to Irvine’s highest risk residents aged 55 and over through a continued partnership with MemorialCare.

The City of Irvine continues to bring vaccines to Irvine residents through Mayor Farrah N. Khan’s COVID-19 Task Force. The state’s announcement to extend eligibility to California residents 50+ starting April 1 and all individuals 16+ April 15, will only continue these alliances and vaccination efforts.

“MemorialCare continues to be an outstanding partner to help meet the vaccination needs of our residents,” said Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “We will continue to work together until every Irvine resident receives a vaccine – and we are well on our way to this goal.”

The City of Irvine and MemorialCare began their vaccine administration partnership in February of this year. This is the third time the health care system and the City have aligned to protect Irvine residents. The vaccine clinic held today directly administered 300 vaccines to high risk Irvine residents aged 55 and above.

“MemorialCare has been honored to be able to partner with the City of Irvine to administer COVID-19 vaccines to the City’s most vulnerable population over the past several weeks,” said Dr. Mark Schafer, CEO of MemorialCare Medical Group & Greater Newport Physicians. “We are thrilled to be able to continue our vaccination efforts by administering another 300 vaccines today bringing our total to above 700 vaccinations given in conjunction with the City of Irvine.”
