Join us at the Farm + Food Lab for our new Nutrition in the Lab series, where Frida Hovik shares how farming, processing, and food choices can have meaningful impacts on nutrition and health. Hovik is a graduate student at USC studying nutrition, health-span, and longevity. She has a background in nutrition counseling, diabetes and obesity prevention.

Farm to Table Adventure | Ages 5-10 (parent participation required)
How does food get from the farm to the plate? Elementary-age students will be taken through the adventure of how local food is grown, who is growing it, and how it is prepared and eaten.

Making Sense of Carbs, Proteins & Fats | Ages 18+
Confused by high-, low- or no-carb diets? Understand the roles of carbohydrates, protein, and fats. Learn about ways to add high fiber foods, go lean with protein, and make smart fat choices.

Teens will gain an understanding of basic concepts of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's MyPlate stystem, and how it can be used as a tool for healthful and balance eating.

Learn more about the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and discuss ways to eat smart based on these guidelines.
