Strategic Plan for Seniors

The City of Irvine would like to thank the many individuals who participated in the development of the Senior Services Strategic Plan (Senior Plan). Community input used in the development of the Senior Plan was gathered from over 600 community members through five task forces, an advisory committee, town hall meetings, a community survey and the Irvine Senior Citizens Council.

Five priority areas are identified as the focus of the Plan, and include:

  • Education (including, financial, insurance, employment and advocacy);
  • Housing;
  • Mental and Physical Health;
  • Recreation and Leisure; and
  • Transportation.

The primary goals of the Senior Services Strategic Plan are to identify and support policies and practices that strengthen the emotional, cognitive, physical and social health of the City’s older adults.

The Senior Plan provides the City with a vision, set of strategies and an Implementation Matrix to address five priority focus areas between 2012 and 2017.

The Irvine City Council adopted the Senior Plan on May 8, 2012.
