Donations Sought for Marine Welcome Home Packages

The City of Irvine and the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee are collecting personal items for welcome home packages for the City’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion, which is returning home from Afghanistan. The collection drive runs through May 31. Items donated will provide 220 welcome home packages for single Marines, who often return home to empty barracks without the comfort of family.

Items requested for care packages include, towels, washcloths and men’s body wash/shower gel (AXE or Dove brands are preferred) and individually wrapped snacks. Female Marines are provided welcome home packages specifically for women from the 2/11 Committee. Welcome home notes and cards are also encouraged.

Drop off locations include the Irvine Civic Center and Irvine Police Department lobbies, located at 1 Civic Center Plaza, Irvine. For more information, call 714-588-8014.
