Chief Maggard Swears in Irvine's Newest Officer


On Thursday, October 31, 2013, Chief Maggard swore in Clay Rinker as the Department’s newest police officer in a ceremony held in the briefing room. Officer Rinker was joined by family members and coworkers who gathered to congratulate him on his graduation from the 207th class of the Orange County Sheriff’s Regional Academy and to wish him well as he enters the Field Training Program. Prior to beginning the academy, Officer Rinker worked as a seasonal Lifeguard for the Newport Beach Fire Department where he was awarded as the Rescue Boat Division’s Lifeguard of the Year. He also spent time working as an ambulance attendant for Doctor’s Ambulance. Officer Rinker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies from California State University, Long Beach in 2011. Congratulations to Officer Rinker and welcome to the Irvine Police Department.
