TIP Recognizes Detective Hernandez at ‘Hero's with Heart' Banquet
On Friday, October 25, Detective Leticia Hernandez was honored at the Annual Trauma Intervention Program, Hero’s with Heart Dinner at the Anaheim Hilton.
Detective Hernandez was nominated by TIP volunteer Karen Hernandez, for a call she handled on May 14 when she showed extraordinary compassion while providing assistance to the widow of an 88-year-old man who had just passed away. Initially, Detective Hernandez arrived on scene and rendered first aid, beginning CPR until other emergency medical personnel determined the man was deceased. Because the woman had medical issues herself, she was having a difficult time knowing what to do. Detective Hernandez assisted with calls to the mortuary and to other family members out of state. She also stayed with her until another family member was able to take over. Detective Hernandez was one of 23 honorees at the banquet and was selected from 350 nominations made by TIP volunteers across Orange County. Leticia’s husband, Daniel, Chief Maggard, Deputy Chief Hamel and Lieutenant Engen were all in attendance to congratulate her on a job well done.
