Officer Bergstrom Employee Of The Quarter
On Tuesday, Motor Officer Bergstrom received the Employee of the Quarter award during a luncheon held at the Irvine Marriott Hotel. In addition to several members of Officer Bergstrom’s family, Chief Maggard, Commander Mahoney and Sergeant August were also in attendance to congratulate him for his outstanding work. The Employee of the Quarter Award is given based on nominations from the recipient’s peers and supervisors. Officer Bergstrom was nominated for his outstanding work ethic as a motor as well as his participation in a variety of other projects. Officer Bergstrom has taken on a key role in the implementation of the new E-citation program. This program utilizes electronic citation equipment to eliminate the redundant data entry and processing of paper citations and to transmit data to the court system more efficiently. Officer Bergstrom is also a lead presenter for Smart Start, a program established to provide teens with extra driving education. Smart Start is now part of every high school in Irvine and attendance is even a requirement for student drivers in order to obtain a student parking permit. Additionally, Officer Bergstrom is an active investigator on the Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team (MAIT) and has developed an expertise in conducting vehicle mechanical inspections. He has also assisted with the coordination of grant-funded sobriety checkpoints. This awards luncheon was made possible by the generous and continual support of the Irvine Exchange Club.
