OFFICER BAK RECEIVES MADD CALIFORNIA HERO AWARD
On Saturday, June 2, 2012, Officer Denny Bak received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) California Hero Award at the 14th Annual MADD Law Enforcement Recognition Dinner in Sacramento. Also attending the ceremony to congratulate Officer Bak was Lieutenant Hallinan.
The prestigious California Hero Award is reserved for a select group of peace officers and police departments whose outstanding efforts in the area of DUI enforcement contribute to the safety of the streets in their communities. The recipients remove impaired drivers from California’s roadways, prevent underage drinking and support the victims of these violent crimes. The award is presented in partnership with the Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In 2011, Officer Bak arrested fifty impaired drivers. There is no way to measure what tragedies his efforts may have prevented but it is safe to say that his hard work contributed to the overall safety for those who travel the roadways in the City of Irvine.
