Irvine Officers Receive Bravo for Bravery Award
On Thursday June2, 2011, Officers Aguirre, Alexen and Bryant received the “Bravo for Bravery” Award presented by the American Red Cross at a luncheon ceremony held at the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin.
This prestigious award is presented to individuals who provide relief to victims of disasters and to heroes who have demonstrated courage, compassion and unselfish character in saving a life.
Officers Aguirre, Alexen and Bryant received the “Law Enforcement Hero” award for their actions during an incident involving a mentally disturbed person who had climbed a 50’ foot eucalyptus tree. Realizing the subject was in peril, they devised a make shift safety net from a tarp and were able to deploy the tarp just as the subject fell, breaking the fall and preventing what could have been serious injury or even death from the fall.
Commander Hamel and Lieutenant Hallinan also attended the presentation of the awards.
