Irvine Personnel Observe Drill at John Wayne Airport

On Friday, April 8, 2011, John Wayne Airport, Orange County Fire Authority, and the Orange County Health Care Agency presented Air EX-2011, “We’re All in This Together”, at the John Wayne Airport.  Commander John Hare, Lieutenant Pat Hurtado, Emergency Services Coordinator Eileen Salmon, and CERT Team Coordinator Frank Southern attended the drill as observers.

The goal of the exercise is to provide an opportunity for multiple organizations to interface under a unified command structure.  The simulated mass casualty incident provides an opportunity for these organizations to evaluate their operational readiness for such an event and make improvements to their Emergency Operations Plans.

This large scale drill was supported by multiple public agencies and private partners, including our own Irvine Police Department CERT team members who volunteered as role-player victims during the drill.

The Irvine Police Department’s participation and observation of this undertaking will provide valuable insight for our Emergency Preparedness Team.
