IRVINE, CA (September 8, 2009): Irvine Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the victim who was found deceased and burned in the parking lot of a closed business early Saturday morning, September 5, 2009. The victim is described as an African American woman in her early 20's, approximately 6' tall and 150 pounds. Attached is a sketch of the victim. Anyone with information about the victim's identity is asked to contact the Irvine Police Department's 24-hour tip hotline at (949) 724-7192.

CERT is a group of people organized as a neighborhood-based team that receives special training to enhance their ability to recognize, respond to, and recover from a major emergency or disaster situation. Teams are trained by professional responders in areas that will help them take care of themselves and others before, during and after a major emergency. The Irvine Police Department is currently accepting applications for its late spring CERT 18 class beginning May 20.

As most of you are aware, the national threat level was raised to orange earlier this week in response to information regarding potential terrorist activities. Be assured that the Irvine Police Department is monitoring the situation, and, as always, is at work keeping our community safe and well informed.

The Driver's Edge is coming to your town. In 2002, over 1,200 Las Vegas, Nevada teens had the opportunity to attend this innovative and life saving program. And now, on February 22nd and 23rd the program is coming to Orange County.
