Irvine Police Department to Host Three National Night Out Events

Irvine, Calif. (July 26, 2018) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) is joining the celebration for National Night Out. This annual tradition celebrated across the country will be held Aug. 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event offers a chance for neighbors to interact with each other and police personnel, as well as explore police vehicles and learn important crime prevention tips.

Residents can choose from an array of activities at three locations. Attendees who bring a canned food item to benefit Families Forward will be entered in an opportunity drawing.

Cypress Community Park (255 Visions): A bike rodeo, face painting, bounce house,  police motorcycles, SWAT vehicle, D.A.R.E. Officers and the Mounted Unit are all part of the fun. Kids are encouraged to bring their bikes and helmets for the bike rodeo. Guests can purchase dinner from the TK Burger food truck or dessert from Kona Ice.

Adventure Playground at University Community Park (1 Beech Tree Lane): Attendees can hop inside a patrol vehicle or visit with a police K-9. An E-Bike demonstration and fire engine are sure to please. The popular Adventure Playground will stay open late for kids to enjoy. Guests can purchase dinner from the Waffleicious food truck or enjoy a refreshing treat from Kona Ice.

The Ranch Neighborhood Park (5161 Royale Ave.): Our Animal Services Unit, always a crowd favorite, will be on hand. Police vehicles and a fire engine will be on display. Face painting, a bounce house, and crafts offer entertainment for kids. A community barbecue hot dog meal will be provided by The Ranch HOA for a $2 fee.

Children at all three locations will receive a limited edition Irvine Police Department light-up bouncy ball while supplies last. For more information, go to cityofirvine.org or call 949-724-7193.
