Help Welcome Home Irvine’s Adopted Marines with Care Packages

IRVINE, Calif. (April 14, 2016): The City of Irvine, in partnership with the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee, is collecting personal items for welcome home packages for members of the City’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion returning from deployment. The collection drive to fill 220 packages runs through Friday, April 29. Items donated will be used in care packages for single Marines, many of whom return home to empty barracks without the comfort of family.

Suggested donation items include:

  • Men’s body wash/shower gel (Axe or Dove are preferred brands)
  • Laundry detergent pods
  • Individual toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Individually wrapped snacks (Granola bars, trail mix, beef jerky or protein bars)
  • Single-serve drink powder mix packets (Gatorade, Propel or Hawaiian Punch)
  • Welcome home notes or cards

Donation bins are located at the Irvine Civic Center, Irvine Police Department and the Orange County Great Park Visitors Center. Female Marines are provided welcome home packages specifically for women from the 2/11 Adoption Committee.

For more information, contact the committee at contact@irvine211marines.org.
