Irvine, CA (Aug. 28, 2015): A woman was cited for aggressive panhandling after demanding money from a gas station patron. The suspect is identified as Monae Antionette Lloyd, 26, of Los Angeles.

At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Aug. 26, 2015, an off-duty officer was fueling their personal vehicle at a gas station in Irvine when she was approached by Lloyd. The suspect approached in an aggressive manner and demanded money for gas. When contacted by responding officers, she provided a false name.

The suspect is known to be part of a panhandling crew consisting of several females from Los Angeles who frequent Orange County gas stations and demand money from patrons. This crew is known to visit multiple gas station locations in a day and have been reported for becoming aggressive with patrons and clerks if they do not receive a positive response. This behavior includes becoming loud and verbally aggressive, standing extremely close to patrons, and blocking paths.

Lloyd was cited at the scene for aggressive panhandling.

Anyone contacted by panhandlers who exhibit aggressive or intentionally intimidating behavior is asked to contact the Irvine Police Department by calling 911 or the non-emergency number at 949-724-7000.
