Irvine Child Care Committee Seeks New Members

The City of Irvine is accepting applications for two volunteer positions on the Irvine Child Care Committee. The Committee comprises five City Council appointees, two community child care providers, two parents/guardians, three higher-education liaison appointees and two community representatives. The two vacancies are for parent/guardian members.

The Committee works in a cooperative relationship with the support of the Community Services Commission, the Irvine Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee, the Child Care Coordination Office and the Community Development Department. Its goal is to enhance child care and education, provide outreach and serve as a community liaison.

Applicants must commit to a two-year term of active participation and attend Committee meetings held on the second Tuesday of select months from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Heritage Park Community Center.

The application period is through Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. Applications are available at irvinechildcare.org, and at the Irvine Child Resource Center, 14341 Yale Ave. The appointment period for the Irvine Child Care Committee begins January 2017.
