MAJOR WILLIAM J. ACKMAN
Major William J. Ackman is a Flight Commander in the 31st Student Squadron at Squadron Officer School, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. He is responsible for leading 70 United States Air Force officers, Department of Defense Civilians, and international officers annually, in their transition from technical and tactical experts to strategic thinkers and leaders. His service awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Air Force Combat Action Medal.
CRYPTOLOGIC (COLLECTION) SEAMAN APPRENTICE
Cryptologic (Collection) Seaman Apprentice Sheridan Karol is a Cryptologist serving in the United Kingdom. A proud resident of Irvine, he is a 2012 graduate of Woodbridge High School. Coming from a military family, he is following the example of his father who served as a Commander in the Coast Guard and honoring the memory of his brother, Spencer, who was fatally injured in 2003 during service as a Specialist in the Army while stationed in Iraq. Sheridan’s position as a Cryptologist is highly classified and requires a great level of skill and responsibility.
INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST BRITTANY LAMON-PAREDES
Intelligence Specialist Brittany Lamon-Paredes is serving in the United States Navy and graduated from Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois on Oct.28, 2016 in the top 3% of here class. She graduated from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts with a dual degree in Political Science and Anthropology. Brittany was in the Sea Cadet program for three years in high school and she attended Western Christian High School in Upland, California. Her parents and sister reside in Irvine, California.
SPECIALIST MEDIC CHRISTOPHER MOORE
Specialist Medic Christopher Moore is serving in the search and rescue team of the Pathfinders 82nd Airborne Command in Bagram, Afghanistan. An Irvine resident since the age of four he attended Irvine Unified School District, and was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout awarded the honor of Eagle Scout. Christopher ran for Irvine City Council at age 19 before proudly following in the footsteps of his father and both grandfathers who served in the Marines, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marines. Christopher completed basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Medic Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina prior to his current assignment in Afghanistan.
GUNNERY SERGEANT BRADLEY T. PESEK
Gunnery Sergeant Bradley T. Pesek was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 29, 1979. He enlisted in the Marines upon graduating from high school in June 1998. In October 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In December 2010, he was promoted to his current rank. His foreign deployments include Darwin, Australia, Iraq, and Okinawa, Japan. His personal awards include the The Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and Two Gold Stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
SENIOR AIRMAN STEVEN SENTNER
Senior Airman Steven Sentner was born in Orange and raised in Irvine in the village of Woodbridge. He attended school in the Irvine Unified School District. He then attended Orange Coast College before enlisting in the Air Force in November of 2008. He completed basic training in San Antonio, Texas. He was stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska and stationed in Qatar for 6 months. He is currently stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state. He continues to call Irvine his home.
