Deputy Chief Jeff Noble

Biography

Deputy Chief Jeff Noble has been with the Irvine Police Department for over 25 years.  As a police officer he worked in Patrol for four years prior to being assigned as an undercover narcotics detective.  After four years in narcotics, he returned to Patrol and was then assigned as a Traffic Investigator.  In 1994, he was promoted to sergeant.  As a sergeant, he worked as a supervisor in Patrol, Preventive Service, the Office of Professional Development and the Office of Professional Standards.  He was promoted to lieutenant in January 2003 and returned to Patrol before being assigned as an Area Commander for the University Area in April 2003.

Deputy Chief Noble has published numerous articles for various journals including: The California Peace Officers Association (CPOA) Newsletter; The Journal of California Law Enforcement; The U.S. Department of Justice Community Links; The Tactical Edge; and Police Chief magazine.  Deputy Chief Noble has published a book titled, “Managing Accountability Systems for Police Conduct: Internal and External Oversight.”

Deputy Chief Noble holds a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from California State University at Long Beach and a J.D. from Western State University.  Deputy Chief Noble is a licensed attorney in the State of California.  Deputy Chief Noble is also a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police held at Boston University.
