Dave Freedland has been selected as the Irvine Police Department’s Commander for the Crossroads Area of the City of Irvine. Dave began his career in policing with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. He distinguished himself by earning the #1 ranking in his academy class. He has served with the Irvine Police Department for the past 26 years in various assignments at the rank of Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. Those assignments have included Investigations, Internal Affairs, Crime Suppression Unit, Planning, Research/Training, and SWAT. Cmdr. Freedland has served as one of the department’s defensive tactics instructors, and currently possesses a 5th degree black belt in karate.
Following a competitive career at the collegiate level, Cmdr. Freedland was selected as UCLA’s “Most Valuable Gymnast.” He possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from UCLA, a Master’s degree in public administration from Pepperdine University, and is a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy.
