The Traffic / Special Events Bureau is managed by a Lieutenant and supervised by two Sergeants.

The Traffic Unit is responsible for enforcing the traffic laws, investigating traffic collisions, and assisting the Public Works Department in finding solutions to traffic related challenges. The Traffic Unit also oversees the Parking Enforcement Unit, Commerical Enforcement and the Crossing Guards at or near the local schools.

The Special Events Unit ensures all  vendors, companies, and individuals who wish to plan events in the City adhere to City ordinances and state laws related to public safety. The Special Events Unit works closely with the Regulatory Affairs Unit, the City of Irvine Community Services Department, and the Orange County Fire Authority.
