Irvine has been honored as a “Playful City USA.” Our City's mission statement includes the line “a community where people can live, work and play.” The Community Services Department is proud of its role in creating and maintaining play-spaces and offering programs to get the community out into the parks and playing … it’s what we do! We maintain 51 parks, 55 playgrounds, and 479.8 acres of parks. That's about 1 acre of City parks and play-spaces for every 436 residents. Our Activity Guide offers more than 1,500 programs and activities for the community.
