The Drawing and Painting department has much to offer the beginning, intermediate, and the advanced artist. Enjoy learning how to basic drawing skills as well as how to paint with either watercolor, acrylic, or oil paints. You can even learn how to mix it all up in one of our mixed media classes! You can paint on silk, learn traditional Chinese Brush Painting, or work in collage.Our instructors have tremendous backgrounds and all are experts in their chosen disciplines. Roger Armstrong (left, demonstrating plein air painting in Bommer Canyon), well-known and respected artist, teaches Intermediate Painting on Wednesdays. Thomas Brown also teaches Oil Painting Workshops and Plein Air Oil Painting each quarter. Tom’s work can be seen on the cover of the winter 2004 ArtBeat. Ve-na Chen teaches Chinese Brush Painting and Lyndelle Stonick, long-time instructor, teaches Painting in Acrylic or Oil. Natasha Shoro shares her skills in her drawing classes and her Mixed Media Collage classes. Paul Gardner teaches Beginning Mixed Media Watercolor and Printmaking. He also specializes in abstraction. Wendy Froshay specializes in drawing skills. Many of our instructors teach at colleges and universities as well as here at the Fine Arts Center.
