Senior Citizen Council

The Senior Citizen Council advises the Irvine City Council on City policy matters that affect older adults and their families in Irvine. If you would like to contact the Senior Council you may do so by attending their regularly held meetings or by telephone.

Duties

Advisory
Act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in establishing policy on all matters pertaining to special interests and concerns to senior citizens.
Consultancy
Act as a sounding board for persons, schools and organizations who have an interest in senior citizens activities and programs.
Budget
Consider the proposed annual budget developed by the Community Services Department and make recommendations to the City Council.
Advisement
Advise the City Council and staff regarding the planning of facilities, transportation, activities, services and programs designed to serve the older adult community in Irvine.
Facilities Policy
Recommend policies for the acquisition, development, use and improvement of land and facilities relating to senior citizens and subject to the rights and powers of the City Council.
Other Duties
Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the City Council.
Elections
The election of the two members-at-large is conducted every two years on odd numbered years in July or August. The City Clerk conducts the election process with advisement from the Irvine Senior Citizens Council.
