City of Irvine to Host 6th Annual Senior Fitness Expo

IRVINE, CA (June 9, 2014):  The City of Irvine will host the 6th annual Senior Fitness Expo on Friday, June 27 from 9 a.m.-noon at Rancho Senior Center. This free event will provide adults, age 50+ with opportunities to learn how to improve their well-being through exercise, mental health, health screenings, nutrition presentations and fitness demonstrations. A wide variety of health and fitness vendors will be available to answer questions.  

“Our goal is to provide education and resources for active older adults to get fit and stay healthy,” said Lydie Gutfeld, Senior Services Program Coordinator. “This Expo is part of the City’s Senior Services Strategic Plan, which is an affirmation of Irvine’s long-held commitment to a healthy community.” 

Fitness demonstrations will include Mind Fitness, MELT, Zumba Gold, Yoga and Tai Chi. Nutrition demonstrations will include simple tips and tricks for healthy cooking, and there will be opportunity drawings throughout the day.
