IRVINE, CA (November 30, 2013): Today, the Irvine Police Department arrested 43-year-old Amir Hajisheikhi for bank robbery minutes after he robbed a Wells Fargo Bank in Irvine.
At 3:50 p.m., Irvine Police Officers responded to a silent robbery alarm at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 18044 Culver Drive. Officers arrived on scene approximately two minutes later and set up a perimeter near the bank. Hajisheikhi, who had already left the bank, was quickly located trying to leave the area on foot. Officers, who had spotted Hajisheikhi a short distance from the bank, detained him without incident.
Hajisheikhi was located with currency in his possession linking him to the robbery. No weapons were used or simulated during the robbery and none were found during the arrest.
Detectives from the Irvine Police Department and the FBI are working cooperatively on this case.
Hajisheikhi was booked at the Orange County Jail for robbery charges with a bail amount of $100,000.
