IRVINE, CA (October 30, 2013): Nominations for individuals, groups, organizations and businesses for inclusion on the City of Irvine’s Wall of Recognition will be accepted from November 1 through December 30, 2013.
The Wall of Recognition was established in 2006 at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park, located adjacent to the Irvine Civic Center, to recognize those who have made significant contributions to the community. The Wall currently honors 295 individuals and organizations.
To be eligible for consideration, individuals must be or have been someone who has lived, been employed or attended school within the City of Irvine. Groups, businesses and organizations must be or have been located in Irvine.
Other criteria for nominee consideration include:
a) Demonstrated creativity and/or initiative in providing service to the community;
b) Provided long-term service to the community, state or nation;
c) Made unique contributions marked by excellence and worthy of honor;
d) Made distinct, significant contribution(s) for the betterment of the City;
e) Demonstrated exceptional determination, character, commitment and leadership; and/or
f) Died in the line of duty serving the City, state or nation.
No more than three nominations may be submitted by any one individual, group, organization or business. Nomination forms are available at the Irvine Civic Center first floor reception desk and Community Services second floor front counter and online at the City website: cityofirvine.org/wallofrec
Completed applications must be postmarked by 5 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, and submitted to the City Clerk by mail, email or hand delivery as indicated below:
