IRVINE, CA (April 1, 2013):  April is Earthquake Preparedness Month and the City of Irvine would like to remind residents and businesses about the importance of being prepared. Taking simple steps today can go a long way in keeping you and your family safe.

Start by assembling a supply kit that is tailored to your family’s needs; develop a plan of action for meeting up with and communicating with family members; register your home and cell phones with the City’s iAlert system to receive emergency alerts and information; listen to 1640AM during an emergency for live updates, follow the City on Twitter and Facebook; and take a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course offered by the City.

For more information and to sign up for iAlert, visit cityofirvine.org/prepare. To follow us on Facebook and Twitter, visit facebook.com/cityofirvine and twitter.com/city_of_irvine.
