IRVINE, CA (March 30, 2012): On Friday March 29, 2013 Irvine Police Detectives arrested Anthony Risberg (10-4-75) of Anaheim, after they witnessed a sale of prescription drugs. The arrest concludes a 3- month investigation that began after detectives received information Riserg was selling the drugs in Irvine.
Detectives believe Risberg obtains pills from someone with a prescription then sells the pills for profit. At this point in the investigation it is unclear if those with prescriptions are using illegal means to obtain them.
After arresting Risberg, detectives conducted a search of his vehicle which produced approximately 150 Oxycodone pills, as well as two loaded handguns and two magazines for a weapon not in the vehicle. Detectives later searched Risberg’s Anaheim residence and located additional weapons, including an illegally altered assault rifle.
Risberg is employed in sales and has no obvious connection to the medical or pharmaceutical profession. Risberg was arrested for sales and transportation of a controlled substance and weapons violations. His bail was set at $25,000.
The Irvine Police Department is committed to focusing resources on illegal activity and abuse surrounding prescription drugs. Last Thursday, a community meeting was held at City Hall to alert parents to the dangers of synthetic and prescription drug abuse. On Saturday, April 27th, the Irvine Police Department will be conducting a Drive-up/Drop-off Drug Take-Back Event at the Civic Center between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
